Bagan

After Mandalay we cancelled our idea of taking the 12 hour boat journey in favour for a flight. Stomach safety was our concern!
Bagan was beautiful. It is like Ankor Wat on wow factor. It is an archieological playground. With temples built 1000 years ago. The land is flat, orange and very dusty. As all the temples are set within a few square miles we hired bikes and set about exploring them. Some you can climb on the roof for terrific views of all the other temples.
We really wanted to take a sunrise balloon flight over the tmples but they were fully books for while we were there.
Our hotel was a bit of a disappointment, the room was expensive and plain and the pool I had been dreaming of was freezing cold despite the heat of the day!

We had a lovely few days there. I have to saw I prefer Ankor Wat in Cambodia as the temples there have more variety of style, size build and era. But Bagan sure is beautiful. The pleasure of Burma is the lack of tourists. For high season it was wonderfully quiet. You really can enjoy it and have lovely sunsets on your own temple.
