Safe Arrival
Hi we arrived safely in Khao Lak after an exhausting 27hrs travelling. we are staying at Khao Lak Countryside Resort which is close to the beach and is lovely. The weather is humid but is also a bit cloud covered.
On day 2 we went for our first days diving with Khao Lak Scuba Adventures to the Similan Islands. We were very lucky and came face to face with our first Manta Ray! It was beautiful and swam by us and then kept turning around and coming back. The only sad thing was that it had become entangled in a fishing rope which has been cutting into its body. I also had my macro lens on

The visability out here is not very good - it is plankton soup! So hopefully we will keep seeing big fish! But it means the diving isnt as pretty as it could be. The water temperature has also dropped. It is very cold. Our dive operator only has shotry wetsuits asd they have never experienced it this cold before! Global warming perhaps?

Dad and Heather can you tell me what this fish is? Is it a Juvenile of something?

The Similan Islands are very beautiful. Lovely smooth rocks jutting out of the sea with big boulders balancing on one another. Lovely white sandy beaches.

That night we went out for dinner and both had freshly cooked snapper fish. Unfortunately disater struck last night for me by experiencing my worst ever food poisoning case! Oh dear. We had to cancel todays diving and it doesnt look like we will do anymore until we do the livaboard. I'm really weak and have been in bed for 12 hours today. The hotel have been fantastic and so has Chris. I fainted twice during the ordeal and have bruises from the hard floor.
Im looking forward to having energy again so I can enjoy myself. We have had a good sense of humour about it though!
Good bye for now. Love you lots
Anna and Chris
